Schwerpunkte in meinem Unterricht

The accordion is a highly sophisticated instrument which gives you a variety of ways to express yourself musically (styles, rhythms, harmonies). Through my long-time experience as accordion instructor I came to prioritize the following aspects:

1. Since the accordion is a physically heavy instrument, and its weight is supported directly by the player's chest, one focus of our lessons lies on correct body and hand posture.

2. The accordion “breathes”! For that reason, you may require a good amount of expertise  controlling both the bellows and your own breathing.

3. I put great emphasis on the comprehension of sheet music through analysis and mental training. This is the foundation for hands-on and free playing (by heart and by ear).

4. The accordion is a solo as well as an accompanying instrument. My students not only deal with easier arrangements as backing groups for soloists, but also with note-for-note transcriptions of other instruments played on the accordion.

In addition, I teach my students fundamental knowledge in harmonics, specifically related to    the accordion and its construction.
